How do I know high fructose corn syrup caused my diabetes?

After finding HFCS in all my food. I had stopped eating and drink anything that contained HFCS in the ingredient. In the first eight months of taking the psyllium husk I lost over 100 pounds. in that time frame I did not ingest anything with HFCS. I ate and drank things with regular sugar only. My A1C went from 12 to 7.4. My sugar stayed low as long as I stayed away from HFCS. I stopped taking the fiber for four months and started eating things with high fructose corn syrup again. My A1C went up to from 7.4 up to 8.5 in that four-month period.

What is High fructose corn syrup?

High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is a sweetener made from corn starch. It undergoes enzymatic processing to convert some of its glucose into fructose, resulting in a mixture of both sugars. HFCS is a commonly used in the food industry in processed foods and beverages as a replacement for sucrose (table sugar) because it is cheaper and easier to blend into products. It is important to note that HFCS is not sugar; the only thing it shares with sugar is its sweetness. There are several types of HFCS, but the most used forms are:

  1. HFCS-42: Contains approximately 42% fructose and 53% glucose. Commonly used in processed foods, cereals, and some baked goods.

  2. HFCS-55: Contains approximately 55% fructose and 42% glucose. Commonly used in soft drinks, juices, and other sweetened beverages.

Why HFCS is a Concern?

  • Health Risks: HFCS, linked to various health issues, including obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and fatty liver disease. Its high fructose content can lead to increased fat production in the liver, which contributes to insulin resistance and metabolic disorders.

  • Widespread Use: studies show, HFCS now used in a wide range of assorted products, from sodas and fruit drinks to snacks, condiments, and desserts. This widespread use makes it easy to consume enormous amounts of fructose without realizing it.

  • Metabolic Differences: show glucose is metabolized by every cell in the body and fructose is primarily metabolized by the liver. Excessive intake of fructose can overload the livers, leading to health problems.

Understanding what HFCS is and its impact on your health it is crucial for making informed dietary choices. If High fructose corn syrup not banned, eventually it will be the number one cause of death in all people.
